Our group investigates how the auditory system changes during development, memory formation and learning, or following hearing loss or tinnitus. Detailed insight into the mechanisms that underlie normal and pathological auditory processing will lead to the discovery of the basic principles that govern hearing as well as to the design of novel therapeutic approaches. We are using a collaborative and cross-disciplinary approach that employs behavioral, anatomical, genetic, electrophysiological, and imaging techniques.

Our research is supported by research and training grants from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, the Department of Defense, and the Pennsylvania Lions Hearing Research Foundation.
